Every two years, my mom's siblings and kids get together in Sturgis. Michigan. Sorry, no Harley riders - not yet anyway. One of the first perks the kids mentioned when we told them we were moving here was that the drive to the reunion would be much shorter. Gotta love it.
We haven't all made it in several years, but we sure have fun with whoever shows up. We are one competitive bunch. Ping pong tournaments, team building woods, volleyball games, dodgeball games (one that ended with Matt vs me - I ALWAYS lose - I hate dodgeball, but Brandon loves it, so off I go) and The Amazing Race. Good times. My Amazing race team has won two reunions in a row. Good stuff. We race our canoes across the lake and back, we count birds in nature centers and pews in chapels. Seriously, crazy stuff, but oh so much fun. Growing up we would see who could get to the Psalter number the fastest in church. What is wrong with us! I LOVE IT!
We need to have story night next time where the siblings tell stories about their childhoods. My kids love hearing old stories. There were a few told, and there were many laughs, but it is always so much fun. Who pulled that fire alarm again? =) JOEY! Its fun to look back and to dream about the future. One of them even told Matt about a job in Virginia. Its fun to dream of the future and where we'll all be, too. And its fun to see our kids have fun together. There are SO many girls! Maria and Jessica were quite pleased with the older nephews piggy back rides. Maria and my cousin's girl told 5 year old jokes and GIGGLED. It was too cute.
